Saklikent Canyon National Park Saklikent National Park is a unique natural wonder. It is one of the most beautiful national parks in Turkey and it's an hour away from Fethiye, which is located in Mugla Province. Adventure travelers are fascinated by the steep rocks, plane trees, pine trees and crystalline springs at Aklar Plateau. There are endemic geophytes and cyclamens here. In Saklikent National Park, the furious river flows in such a way that going in the opposite direction is not possible; luckily there are wooden platforms attached to these rocks as well as to overhanging cliffs on rock walls. People walk on them for a full-length view of the explosion point. After the spot, the bottomless canyon offers changing natural formations that are intriguing in their own right. Sometimes it becomes so narrow you cannot see sky overhead. Mud ponds at ground level and also elevated heights stretch out 18 kilometers to go. Local legend has it that, after a shepherd loses his goat one day, he starts looking for the animal. He finds not only his lost goat but also the hidden city of Saklikent; according to local legend, the goat seemed drawn to this chill gorge and had been hiding there during its escape. With its 300 m depth and 18 km length, Saklikent Canyon is one of the deepest canyons in the world. The full length of 18 km is only possible to discover with professional equipment and knowledge of advanced canyoning. With ice-cold water spurting from the rocks, even on a hot summer day you’ll feel cold at this depth.
