Itinerary Details

Our guide and driver will meet you at your hotel at 09:00 AM to begin your journey through the magical landscape of Cappadocia. Our first stop will be a scenic 1-hour drive to the stunning Eski Gumusler Monastery, which is considered the best-preserved monastery in the Cappadocia region. The monastery’s location, slightly further from the main living areas, has contributed to its excellent preservation. The most remarkable feature of this monastery is its church, which holds a very unique fresco depicting The Virgin Mary while she is smiling. While the smile may have resulted from an error during restoration, it remains one of the most fascinating and charming aspects of this fresco. This rare artwork is worth visiting for its historical significance and the charm it brings to the monastery.

After exploring the monastery, we will continue our journey to the picturesque Guzelyurt (Gelveri) Village. This village once hosted the most crowded Christian population in Cappadocia, and it played a significant role in the region's religious and cultural history until 1924. Upon arrival, we will visit the Monastery Valley, home to several ancient churches, including the iconic St. Gregory Church, which is the oldest church in Cappadocia, dating back to 385 AD. In addition to the church, we will explore a small underground city, where early Christians sought refuge and created a hidden world beneath the surface to protect themselves from invaders.

After this fascinating historical visit, we will enjoy a relaxing lunch before heading to the majestic Selime Monastery and Cathedral. Selime Monastery is the largest of its kind in the Cappadocia region and offers one of the most impressive sights in the area. We will take a scenic climb to the monastery, where you will have the opportunity to explore its different sections, including the monastery itself, the kitchen, the cathedral, and the church components. The structure’s grandeur and the panoramic views it offers over the surrounding landscape are truly remarkable and provide a sense of the scale and significance of this incredible site.

After exploring Selime, we will begin our journey back to your hotel, with an estimated drop-off time around 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM. You will leave with unforgettable memories of the rich history, culture, and natural beauty of Cappadocia.
