Tour Itinerary
Meeting & Byzantine Hippodrome
Meet your guide in Istanbul’s historic center and begin with a walk through the Byzantine Hippodrome. Once the great social and ceremonial arena of Constantinople, this square witnessed chariot races, imperial celebrations, political demonstrations and major events during the Byzantine and Ottoman periods. Your guided visit lasts approximately 45 minutes and introduces the monuments still standing around the square.
Blue Mosque
Continue to the Blue Mosque, also known as Sultanahmet Mosque. Built in the early 17th century, it is one of Istanbul’s defining monuments and an outstanding example of classical Ottoman mosque architecture. Your guide will explain its design, six minarets, grand prayer hall and celebrated İznik tile decoration. As the mosque remains an active place of worship, access is arranged around prayer times.
Hagia Sophia
Visit Hagia Sophia, constructed in 537 during the reign of Emperor Justinian I. The building served for centuries as an imperial church and later became an Ottoman mosque, creating a remarkable combination of Christian and Islamic artistic traditions. Approximately one hour is planned for the designated visitor areas, where your guide will explain the great dome, surviving mosaics, calligraphic medallions and the building’s changing role through history.
Grand Bazaar & Tour Finish
The final stop is the Grand Bazaar, one of Istanbul’s most famous historic trading centers. Walk beneath its vaulted roofs while learning about Ottoman commerce, traditional crafts and the culture of the city’s old markets. After the visit, the tour concludes in the Sultanahmet area at approximately 12:30, leaving the rest of your day free for further exploration.
Tour Order & Site Access
The order of visits may be adjusted by the guide according to mosque prayer schedules, official ceremonies, security measures, seasonal crowd levels or temporary closures. When a site cannot be entered, the guide will provide the best possible exterior explanation or an appropriate alternative whenever available.
