Mus Castle The Mus Castle, located in the heart of Mus city, was constructed in response to the Mongol invasion. It served as a stronghold for Muslim forces under the rule of Caliph Osman for numerous years. During this time, the castle witnessed frequent clashes between Muslim and Armenian armies, as well as with Armenian overlords appointed to govern nearby territories on behalf of the Abbasid Caliphs. The castle's construction was completed in the 27th year of Hijra, which corresponds to around 677 AD. After falling into Muslim hands during the reign of Omar, the castle was effectively turned over to Muslim control. However, fierce wars resulted in significant destruction to historical monuments in the surrounding area. The Arab Cemetery, Seljuk Cemetery, and Ottoman Cemetery on the castle's western side were all destroyed. Today, the area has been converted into a park and is managed by the local municipality. It is a popular spot for locals to enjoy picnics and other recreational activities.
