Horoztepe Mound Horoztepe mound, located to the east of the town of Erbaa in Tokat province, is a circular and monumental structure with a size of approximately 300 meters. The shape and decorative artifacts found within the mound are similar to those discovered in Alacahöyük, one of the most significant mounds in Turkey. Situated 5 meters above the road level on the east side and approximately 15 meters away from the stream level on the west side, Horoztepe mound contains many pottery fragments dating back to the Old Bronze Age and Hittite period. Excavations in Horoztepe have unearthed a tomb dating back to 3000 BC, which contains metal and gold ornaments, as well as a gold and bronze figurine of a woman breastfeeding her child. This figurine is now on display at the Ankara Anatolian Civilizations Museum. Other notable artifacts discovered at the site include bull figurines, a bronze spearhead, a systrum, a dagger, wedge-and-handle axes, ribbon handles, a deer figurine, a teapot with a spout, deep bowls, bowls with and without handles, a mirror, a sun disc, a ring, and a Kirmen belt buckle.
