Surp Yerotutyun or The Holy Trinity Church

Surp Yerotutyun or The Holy Trinity Church

The Holy Trinity Church, also known as Surp Yerotutyun, is an Armenian church situated in the former Armenian neighborhood of Sivrihisar in the Eskişehir province of Turkey. It is one of the largest Armenian churches in Turkey and was actively used as a church until the 1915s.

Built in the year 1650, the Holy Trinity Church suffered severe damage due to a fire in 1876. However, it was reconstructed in 1881 by architect Mintes Panoyat under the supervision of Patriarch Nerses II. Unfortunately, after 1915, the church remained unused and neglected. Despite a failed restoration plan in 2001, the reconstruction of the dome began in 2010, and the church was eventually reopened in 2015.

The Church follows a rectangular plan from east to west, with three naves inside. The entrance is bordered by bell towers on both sides, and the exterior features earth figures and depictions of saints. The baptism room for infants is located in the northeastern corner, along with rooms for the clergy.
