Hatila Honey Description and Distinguishing Features of Hatila Honey: Hatila Honey is produced in the village of Taşlıca, which is part of the central district of Artvin province in Turkey. The village was formerly known as Hatila, and in 1994, it became part of the boundaries of a national park. This area is known as Hatila Valley. Along the valley, slope fractures resulting from lithological differences have formed waterfalls, creating a rich and dense vegetative cover in the middle and upper reaches of the valley. This vegetation exhibits relict features and hosts more than 1,349 plant species and varieties, including those with endemic characteristics. This diverse flora positively influences the presence of bees and honey production. Apiculture activities within the geographical border have a history of approximately three centuries, utilizing traditional beekeeping methods and tools in honey production. In the production of Hatila Honey, Caucasian and Caucasian hybrid bee breeds are used. Hatila Honey contains pollen from various plant flowers, including those from the Apiaceae family (umbellifers), Fagaceae family (beech family), Fabaceae family (legumes), Ericaceae family (heaths), Rosaceae family (roses), Oleaceae family (olives), and Tiliaceae family (linden). The relict plant feature formed based on the climate and topography of the geographical boundary, along with complete isolation from settlements, gives Hatila Honey its characteristic properties in terms of proline and moisture values.
