Delice Natural Spring Salt


Description and Distinguishing Features of the Product:

Delice Natural Spring Salt is a naturally crystallized salt that is obtained by allowing the underground waters of the Delice district to emerge to the surface and then being left under the sun in pools located 500 m away from the Çoğul Salt Flat. It crystallizes naturally in its environment without any refining, and no additives are used in its production.Produced for over 100 years, Delice Natural Spring Salt comes in three varieties: brine salt, table-ground salt (mill salt), and ground table salt (fine salt). It is white, odorless, cubic, and has a soft texture.

Production Method:

The underground waters that naturally emerge from various locations at the foothills of Kılıçözü Mountain in the Delice district are brought to the surface without any drilling process. The contact of these underground waters with the external environment is cut off, and they are transported through pipes to the resting pool, which is covered with 1.25 cm thick greenhouse-type glass. After resting for a few days, the water is transferred to pools with a depth of 20 cm, covered with greenhouse-type glass, and the crystallization of the salt in the underground water is achieved by evaporation under the sun. The resulting water vapor is expelled to the outside through a large vacuum system. The salt crystallized in the pool is left to dry in its natural environment. Then, starting at 50 °C and reaching a maximum of 60 °C, hot air is applied to reduce the moisture content to a maximum of 0.5%.

The sieving process is carried out according to the varieties as follows: With the help of titration, salts are classified into hoppers through three different sizes of sieve holes. The separated salts according to their sizes are: 1) Ground table salt (fine): The class of salts passing through a sieve with a diameter of 1000 microns. 2) Table-ground salt (mill salt): The class of salts passing through a sieve with a diameter of 2000 microns, and it is presented in the market in glass mill bottles. 3) Brine salt: The class of salts passing through a sieve with a diameter of 2500 microns.

The bottoms of the pools are covered with an antibacterial, food-grade membrane, and they allow full sunlight exposure, covered with greenhouse-type nylon. Polycarbonate pools are resting pools, and greenhouse-type pools are where the salty water is evaporated, and salt is crystallized.

The greenhouse protects underground waters from rainwater and pests. After obtaining salt through natural evaporation in the summer months, the pools are washed with pure water and maintained.

Delice Natural Spring Salt is not refined. The product is packaged in accordance with the Turkish Food Codex Salt Regulation and stored in compliance with the Turkish Food Codex Regulation.
