Barhal is a Georgian Orthodox monastery church, one of the best examples of medieval Georgian architecture. Written sources indicate that King David III Kurapalat built the church in the 10th century and dedicated it to John the Baptist.

The walls of the nave are high and sharply separated, with façade carvings that are impressive. Parkhali Church is noteworthy for its long wall separating the middle nave from the wings; it is additionally decorated in painted images. The church measures around 28 x 18 meters.
