Akhisar Uslu Olives Product Description and Distinguishing Features: Akhisar Uslu Olives are the fruits obtained from the grafted tree of the olive family grown in the Akhisar district of Manisa and its surrounding regions. The most distinctive feature that sets Akhisar Uslu Olives apart from other olive varieties is that they are harvested and processed from olive trees cultivated with Uslu type Olive seedlings in the Akhisar district of Manisa. Production Method: Planting: Before establishing a new plantation, soil and land preparations such as deep cultivation, leveling, terracing, drainage, etc., are completed. Planting should be done considering the need for each tree to maximize sunlight exposure. When establishing an olive grove, planting intervals are set at 6x8 m or 7x7 m for the Akhisar Uslu variety, which has a large canopy. Planting holes are made as described below. In the region's conditions, olive tree planting can be done between November and April. If the climate is colder, it can be shifted to March-April. A planting board with notches at the ends and a central notch, 1.50 m in length, is used for opening planting holes. The planting board is placed with the central notch aligned with the marking stake. Two additional stakes are driven into the notches at the ends, and the planting board and marking stake are removed to open a planting hole between the two stakes. The holes should be opened with dimensions of 80x80 cm. It is beneficial to widen the hole for the rapid development of the planted seedling. While opening the hole, topsoil and subsoil should be separated. Before planting, the seedlings in nylon bags need to be watered to prevent soil dispersion and root exposure to air. To ensure balanced and healthy growth of the seedlings, basic fertilization should be done in the planting holes along with the planting. Therefore, soil analysis must be conducted on the land before planting.
