Day 1 (Private Cappadocia Tour, lunch included)
Your journey begins with an early pick-up from your hotel around 05:00am, where we will transfer you to either Istanbul or Sabiha Gokcen Airport for a flight to Cappadocia. Upon arrival, our driver will meet you at the airport and take you to our office.
After a short refreshment at our office, you will embark on a tour of the magical region of Cappadocia, starting with its most iconic landmark: the Goreme Open Air Museum. This site has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985 and is home to the best-preserved rock-cut churches in the region. Next, we'll head to Cavusin, a village where Greek and Turkish people lived together until 1924. You'll explore this fascinating old Greek and Turkish settlement, which remained inhabited until the 1950s before being relocated due to falling rocks. The tour continues with a visit to Pasabag (Monks Valley), renowned for its unique mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys. The fairy chimneys of Pasabag are some of the best-preserved in the area, offering a perfect example of how these formations evolved.
We will enjoy our lunch at a local restaurant in Avanos, where you can try the famous "Pottery Kebab". After lunch, we will experience a kick-wheel pottery demonstration, an art form that has been practiced for about 4000 years. Originating with the Hittites, this craft has become a significant part of the town's cultural heritage. Next, we will visit the Zelve Open Air Museum. Your guide will explain the importance of Christianity and monastic life in Cappadocia. While Zelve may not have the richly adorned frescoes of other Cappadocian sites, it showcases a complex network of rooms and passages. The valley is also famous for its numerous pointed "fairy chimneys," with their stems rising about 40 feet above the valley floor. Our tour will end with a visit to Devrent Valley, a stunning landscape where natural rock formations resemble various recognizable shapes, including the iconic camel-shaped rock. We will return to your hotel around 4:00 PM. Overnight accommodation will be in Goreme.
Day 2 (Private Cappadocia Tour, Flight to Istanbul breakfast and lunch included)
Optional Hot Air Balloon Flight in the early morning can be a good start the day with sunrise.
Our guide and driver will meet you at your hotel at 10:00, and we will begin a hike through the Red & Rose Valleys, two of the most stunning valleys in Cappadocia. Along the way, you'll see numerous pigeon houses, incredible views of Uchisar Castle, and rock-cut churches that are over 1000 years old. The hike will last approximately 1.5 hours and conclude in Cavusin Village, an abandoned Greek village offering breathtaking views.
Cavusin Village was abandoned in the 1950s due to falling rocks. After taking in the panoramic view of the village, we will drive to Uchisar Castle Viewpoint to admire the beautiful scenery. Following this, we will head to a local restaurant for a delicious lunch.
After a 30-minute drive, we will visit the Kaymakli Underground City, one of Cappadocia's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The most impressive feature of Kaymakli is its well-organized and structured layout, with living quarters, sleeping areas, stables, communal kitchens, a church, and even a graveyard, all fortified to protect its inhabitants.
Next, we will drive to Mustafapasa (Sinasos) Village, a village that was home to both Turkish and Greek residents until the compulsory population exchange of 1924. You will see many old Greek houses, an Ottoman Madrasah, and an ancient church. After this visit, our tour will conclude around 4:30-5:00pm with a drive back to the airport for the flight back to Istanbul. After you land at the airport, our driver will meet you there and drive you to your hotel in Istanbul.
