Private Tour Itinerary
Meet Your Private Guide in Sultanahmet
Your Private Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar and Süleymaniye Mosque Tour begins at approximately 10:00 AM in Sultanahmet Square. We will advise the exact and easy-to-find meeting point when your booking is confirmed. After a short introduction, your guide will explain the day’s route and the historical background of Ottoman Istanbul.
Topkapi Palace and the Imperial Harem
Enter Topkapi Palace, built by Sultan Mehmed II after the conquest of Constantinople and used as the principal residence and administrative center of the Ottoman sultans for nearly four centuries. Explore its monumental courtyards, the Imperial Council Chamber, Treasury, Sacred Relics and palace collections while your guide explains court ceremonies, government and daily life inside the imperial complex.
Your entrance also includes the Imperial Harem. Walk through its tiled corridors, private apartments and ceremonial rooms as you learn about the sultan’s family, the Valide Sultan, princes, court officials and the complex hierarchy of palace life.
Grand Bazaar and Traditional Craftsmanship
Continue on foot to the historic Grand Bazaar, established during the reign of Sultan Mehmed II and developed into one of the most important commercial centers of the Ottoman world. Your guide will introduce the bazaar’s historic hans, covered streets, traditional trades and bargaining culture.
You will also have time to browse shops selling carpets, jewelry, ceramics, leather, textiles and souvenirs. Shopping is completely optional, and your guide can help you navigate the bazaar without pressure.
Lunch Break in the Old City
At approximately 1:30 PM, take a break at a traditional restaurant in the historical peninsula. Your guide can recommend suitable Turkish dishes and restaurants according to your preferences. Lunch and drinks are not included in the tour rate.
Süleymaniye Mosque and Imperial Tombs
After lunch, visit the magnificent Süleymaniye Mosque, commissioned by Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent and completed by the celebrated Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan in 1557. Admire the balanced proportions, soaring dome, calligraphy, stained glass and serene interior while learning how the mosque formed the spiritual center of a much larger social complex.
Subject to opening conditions, you may also see the imperial tombs of Sultan Süleyman and Hürrem Sultan. From the mosque terraces, enjoy memorable panoramic views over the Golden Horn, Bosphorus and historic skyline.
Tour Conclusion
The tour concludes at approximately 4:00 PM in Istanbul’s Old City. Your private guide will explain the easiest route back to your hotel or provide recommendations for continuing your exploration independently.
