Soganli Valley is a result of fractures and collapses during earthquakes. Soganli valley ,which is divided into two has been occupied since the Roman period. The rock cones on the sides of the valley were used a graves by the Romans, and later as churches by the Byzantines. The frescoes in the churches date back to the 6th and 14th centuries. Important churches in the valley are Karabas,Yilanli, Kubbeli and the Church of St.Barbara (Tahtali).
The Karabas Church is located on the right side of the valley. Besides the church,graves, large vaulted chapels, and priests’ roomscan be found in this rock mass. The church has one nave, one apse, and a barrel vaulted ceiling. The 14th century church was painted at different times, using different techniques.
Scenes: Deesis, Annuncition, Nativity, Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, Transfiguration, Missions of the apostles, Crucifixion, Anastasis, Ascension and portraits of saints.
Snake church is located close to Karabas Church and it is one of the most interesting churches in entire Cappadocia region. The church is also called as Saint George Church, because there is a depiction of Saint George while he is killing the dragon.
The church also has a fresco that is unique in the world called as Mature Jesus. Even though it is not possible to see Jesus when he is an old man, the local people thought that he will be an old man on the Last Judgement Day. The church also has some other frescoes depicting the next life.
Kubbeli Church lies to the north of the village, on the left of the valley. Fine carving has created a dome from the rock, and this is the only example in Cappadocia region. The church, with its dome, vaults and apses, displays advanced architectural techniques. The church of basilica style has three apses and three naves. The church is dated to the beginning of the 14th century.

Tahtali church lies at the end of the valley to the west of the village. The single-apsed, single-naved church is barrel vaulted. The vault is divided into two with a projecting line. The church is dated to the beginning of the 14th centruy and interesting due to the presence of many portraits of saints.
